Time to send 200 messages (How did I measure) 32 sec. 13min.28sec. 30 sec.
Pros This CGI script has batch processing feature. If you are using a sheared hosting service, your host can terminate any process it takes too much of CPU time. To avoid this, you can send your newsletter in "batches." For example, you can send 10,000 messages in 10 batches of 1,000 messages. So, the process might end before being terminated by the host. If the process is terminated, or even server crashes during the process (not by hardware failure), you can resume sending the newsletter from where the process was stoped. This feature is quite helpful even if you are using a dedicated server. There is no limit in CPU usage, but dedicated server still crashes. You don't have to re-send newsletter to the entire list in case the server crashes while sending newsletter. Easy to install, and easy to use. This is more than just a list hosting service. This package includes many different services, such as shopping cart, ad trucking service, and more. If you are also looking for those services, maybe this is the only serve you need to sign up.
Cons Installation is difficult. It took me 6 hours to install. I could have saved 2 hours of my time if I had read the instruction carefully. For those who give up to install by ownself, the author of this script offers paid installation service. (The script itself is free.) This is good "e-mail client," but not suitable for handling large opt-in lists. It took 13 minutes to send 200 messages; it will take more than 10 hours to send 10,000 messages. This rate is too slow, and you have to be connected to the Internet and your PC's power has to be kept on while sending newsletter. Database limit is set to 10,000. (Upgrade is available, but you have to pay for it.)

How did I measure the times to send 200 messages

I took 198 e-mail addresses out from my opt-in list, and added my e-mail address at the top and the bottom of the list [198 + 2 (top and bottom) = 200]. After I had used that list to send my newsletter, I received 2 messages, one for the address at the top of the list and one for the address at the bottom of the list. Then, for each message, I found the time when the message was sent in "Received" entry of e-mail header. The difference between the sent times of 2 messages was the time took to send 200 messages. Each result is an average of 4 tests.

Most of marketing gurus don't write about the real marketing strategies in their free newsletter. If they did, no one would buy their how-to books. But, you will discover those hidden Internet marketing techniques in my monthly newsletter, "Cache." It's free, but you have to spend time to read it.
